2. General weakness
Since your kidneys may have been affected, your body will not be able to derive enough energy from the food you eat. You will wake up weak and tired. The weakness will linger on for several days until the potassium level in your blood is boosted.
1. Heart failure
Low potassium can affect the heart if left unchecked. It makes the heart beat irregularly. It can increase the rate of heartbeat or reduce it. When the level of potassium in the blood drops to a critical level, it can lead to heart failure.
The worst problem with potassium deficiency is that you may suffer more than one of the symptoms outlined above. However, when you notice any of them, you should begin to consume high-potassium foods like salmon, sweet potatoes, broccoli, lima beans, grapefruit, and avocado just to mention a few.
