This Easy Apple Dumplings recipe was fun to make, and turned out really good. I was surprised by how quickly they disappeared.
Core and peel 2 granny smith apples then cut into 8ths. We ended up using red apples, this turned out fine but by nature of red apples they were soft.
Next wrap apple slices in 1 tube of crescent rolls, making sure to cover completely.
Place in pan and set aside.
Mix 1 stick melted butter, 1 1/2 Cups sugar, 1 Teaspoon vanilla, and 1 Teaspoon cinnamon together.
Spread mixture over apple dumplings as evenly as you can, it’s more sugar than liquid so we used a spatula to spread.
Next pour lemon/lime soda over top. (I know it seems weird but it turns out absolutely amazing in the end, and you can’t even taste the soda.)
Then bake 35-40 min, or until golden brown. Some of ours didn’t finish cooking all the way because we were on a time crunch, but they were still delicious.
Cool then serve.
