Homemade Powdered Laundry Detergent

Sharing is caring!

Is there a reason why your haven’t jumped on board the make your own laundry detergent train?  Very cost-effective, easy to use, clothes come out clean.

This takes maybe ten minutes to make.  Hardest part is grating the soap.  Problem solved if you have a food processor.  Just throw the soap in and shred.  Now you have no excuses to not be making your own powdered laundry detergent.

I will be giving you a liquid detergent in another post if you prefer liquid over powdered.

PS:  I have a High Energy washing machine and no it doesn’t damage it at all.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Bar Fels Naptha (or use Dr. Bonner’s, Kirk’s Castile, Zote)  Grated
  • 1 cup Borax
  • 1 cup washing soda
  • Grate your bar of soap and place it in a bowl.
  • Add the borax and washing soda to the bowl.

Stir to mix well.

Store in any container you would like.

Use 1 Tablespoon for small loads.

Use 2-3 Tablespoons for large and heavily soiled loads.
