3tablespoonspure maple syrupdivided
1/4teaspoonground cinnamon
2tablespoonsfinely chopped pecans
1teaspoonchili powder
18 ounce roundBrie cheese
2tablespoonsunsalted butter
Sea saltto taste
1teaspoonchopped fresh rosemary(optional)
Instructions
Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
Arrange the bacon strips on the baking sheet in a single layer. In a mixing bowl, combine the pecans, brown sugar, chili powder, and a pinch of sea salt, then evenly distribute this mixture over the bacon.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and cook the bacon for 18 to 20 minutes, or until crispy. Once cooked, let it cool on a rack before chopping into small pieces.
Melt the butter in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced apples along with 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, and sauté, stirring every minute or so, until the apples are tender and nicely browned, which should take about 8 minutes.
After the apples are done, mix in the remaining 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and the cinnamon, then transfer the apple mixture to a bowl.
To Bake the Dish:
Prepare a piece of parchment paper slightly larger than the round Brie and place it in a baking sheet. Position the Brie on the parchment and top it generously with the sautéed apples.
Bake the Brie for about 5 minutes, then sprinkle the chopped bacon mixture over the top and continue to bake for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until everything is bubbly and golden.
Using a spatula, carefully transfer the baked Brie onto a serving platter. Top with a pinch of sea salt and add fresh rosemary if desired.
