Water retention or fluid retention refers to an excessive buildup of fluid in the circulatory system, body tissues or cavities in the body. Swelling that occurs from water retention is referred to as edema. Edema can occur in the hands, arms, ankles, legs and feet.

If you are feeling bloated or gav swelling, you are probably bloated and here are some natural ways to relieve it.

Little did you know, but dandelion has a natural diuretic effect making it a great natural solution for removing excess water from the body. Dandelion has potassium in it which also helps reduce sodium levels. Drink one teaspoon of dried dandelion in a cup of hot water and make sure to strain, before you drink. Do this three times a day for best results.

Jump in a warm baths with epsom salt because it has a reverse osmosis effect on water retention. The epsom salt draws out excess fluids and toxins from your body. All you need is two cups of epsom salt in a warm bath water and soak for 15 minutes. Repeat three times a week for best results.

Parsley is also a diuretic. Similar to dandelion, take 2 teaspoons of dried parsley, mix it in with boiled water, and drink up to three times a day.

Nettle treats joint pain and rids the body of excess water. Use 3 to 4 teaspoons of dried leaves or root with boiling hot water and drink up to four cups a day.

Fennel helps increase the output of sodium in kidneys and helps you digest. Boil water, place one teaspoon of fennel seeds, let it steep for 10 minutes, and drink up to three times a day.
