Onions and garlic are incredibly healthy natural foods, which should be present in your kitchen at any time. They are said to be the ‘king and queen’ of the kitchen, and their addition to meals will ensure a delicious taste and numerous health benefits.

They are both members of the Allium genus family, and their consumption boosts blood circulation, lowers the risk of heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes, and fights infections.

They are abundant in minerals and vitamins and boost health in various ways.

However, you should always have a fresh supply of garlic and onions, and this trick will help you to store them properly in order to extend their freshness:

You will need:

  • Onions and garlic (firm and free of blemishes)
  • Brown lunch paper bags
  • Paper clips for closing the bags

Instructions:

You should poke many holes in the top half of the paper bags in order to ensure good ventilation. You can also fold the bag in half lengthwise, punch along one edge, flip the folded bag over and punch along the other edge. Leave about 1″ between punches.

Then, fill the bag to the half, fold over the top of the bag, and paper clip it to hold the top down.

Keep the bags in the kitchen, but away from direct sunlight.

By storing your garlic and onions in this way, you will always have a fresh supply of these healthy veggies, as they can last for months.
