Turmeric Overnight Oats

Have you tried overnight oats yet? If you haven’t, you’re really, really, really missing out on one of the easiest and most convenient breakfast meals. When I placed this recipe under the “recipes under 10 minutes” tab, I was really wishing there was a “recipes under 5 minutes” section, because that’s how FAST it is to make these Turmeric Overnight Oats.

Why are these Turmeric Overnight Oats so convenient? You literally need 5 simple ingredients, a bowl and a fridge. The technicality of this recipe is next to nothing. Stir the ingredients in a bowl and let the fridge do the rest. You can prep this dish on a Sunday night and BAM! You have breakfast ready for the rest of the week!

My favorite part of overnight oats is packing them into mason jars, making the perfect grab-and-go for those busy mornings.

There are so many variations of overnight oats that you could probably have a different version each week. However, I try not to overload with sugar (when possible). That’s where turmeric comes into play.

These oats combine honey and turmeric, which make quite the delicious pair. Not too bitter, not too sweet. Oh and let’s not forget the amaazzzzzing health benefits this spice contains.

Tips and tricks to making perfect overnight oats:

  • Use a 1:1 ratio (oats and liquid) – I use almond milk
  • Add fruits and toppings right before you eat – or else they will get soggy if you allow them to soak with the oats overnight
  • Don’t use instant oatmeal – rolled oats are the best choice

My oats of choice are good old rolled oats, specifically, Trader Joe’s Oven Toasted Old Fashioned Organic Oats (now say that 10 times fast). There is just ONE ingredient – organic whole grain rolled oats and is filled with iron, fiber and 5 grams of protein.

If you’re looking for a quick alternative to the usual egg breakfast – be sure to try out these Turmeric Overnight Oats!
